Anthony Osuna, PhD

CO-FOUNDER / CLINICAL PSYCHOLOGIST

I am a licensed clinical psychologist based in Seattle, Washington, with years of experience supporting people with diverse psychological needs. My clinical specialty is diagnosing children and adults with neurodevelopmental disabilities, including autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and ADHD. As a therapist, I specialize in providing psychotherapy to adolescents and adults from diverse backgrounds, including people who identify as BIPOC, neurodiverse, LGBTQ+, and social media influencers.

I received my education at renowned universities with strong reputations for excellence in psychology, including: UCLA, UC Santa Barbara, and University of Washington. My clinical expertise was refined at prominent training centers, including residency and fellowships at Seattle Children’s Hospital and the UW School of Medicine.

In addition to my expertise as a psychologist, I enjoy traveling and going on adventures with my two dogs, Pavlov and Maslow. I am an avid supporter of disappointing sports teams (e.g. San Diego Padres) and fan of classic Nintendo video games (OG Pokemon Ruby).

My approach to therapy

My eclectic therapeutic approach draws inspiration from: Multicultural Psychology, Person-Centered Therapy, Psychodynamic therapy, Object Relations Therapy, Interpersonal Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT therapy), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and taking a NeuroAffirmative approach.

Trust and Empathy: I prioritize establishing a healthy relationship with each client that is authentic, loving, and empathetic. I strike a healthy balance of being friendly, open, and approachable, while offering expertise, wisdom, and guidance. I believe that trust and acceptance are essential for self-growth.

Self-Exploration: I believe that insight into the reasons behind our thoughts, feelings, and behavior helps us live more healthy lives. I help clients understand why behavior manifests in particular ways so they can be more empathetic toward themselves and others.

Keeping it Real: In my culture, being authentic and keeping it real is how you show care and respect. I see straightforward communication as an expression of love and prioritize engaging in difficult conversations that lead to psychological growth.

A look into a session with Dr. Osuna…

Story Telling: We all make sense of the world through stories. Stories help us remember important people, places, lessons, and behaviors that stick with us forever. Within sessions, I encourage clients to share stories about their lives, including recent experiences, drama (tell me the chisme), and memories from their childhood. By sharing their stories, clients further refine their understanding of themselves.

Self-Disclosure: Some therapists believe that sharing information about themselves makes therapy less effective. I believe in the opposite – I believe that therapy is enhanced when therapists are relatable. I try my best to acknowledge my humanity with clients and embrace sharing relevant information about myself when it is relevant for their growth.

Flexibility: Therapy can look like whatever you need it to be. Just like how each friendship is unique, my relationship with each client is different depending on their lifestyle. I am flexible with meeting with clients on a weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly basis and can hold sessions in settings that work best for you.

I’m an attentive listener who embraces curiosity, asking direct questions while offering balanced support, challenge, and encouragement. My feedback and guidance are purposeful, respecting your autonomy and freedom in our journey together.
